How to create a proposal and vote
Proposal Posts and Snapshot Votes
Beyond_Uranus approved users submit a post detailing their proposal and include a vote option for no changes to occur. Voting is direct on Reddit now after an emergency vote in early Aug 2023. All sections of the wiki have been edited to reflect this change.
Valid Proposals for sub changes are only valid when posted by approved members.
Proposal posts on Reddit will be given a good faith effort to be pinned by mods Message mods if you have a post with a proposal up that is not pinned. Even if you plan for the vote to be a week out for lengthy discussions with the community first, let the mods know so we can try to pin at some point. When pinned could depend on other factors such as other proposals already pinned in the maximum slots, or other events seen as important and having a pin priority.
All votes have a 5 day minimum duration. A full 120 hour period (give or take 30 minutes is fine).
A proposal can be anything with at least 2 options, one being at minimum for no change in the sub to occur.
Votes are recorded by fully approved members commenting on the proposal post (mods- hovering over username - you can see an action occured - clicking on it will show if approved user. you can also check the approved member list in mod tools.
8/30/2023 - Due to intermitten voting - the sub still has 5 day votes for changes but more advanced government structures mentioned below for other roles are on hold unless the sub decides to add back or modify to more complex governance.
If someone is interested in running for a position and doesn't have posting ability, they can request approval to post their nomination for a vote and a mod can approve, similar to other posts. Someone in the sub can also sponsor them (posting their election on their behalf).
